Cultural Landscape of Paranapiacaba
Cultural Landscape of Paranapiacaba: Village and railway systems in the Serra do Mar Mountain Range, São Paulo is part of the Tentative list of Brazil in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Paranapiacaba was a Railway Village built by a British company in the 19th century. The village was created as a European-style company town for the railway workers, who were often immigrants. The railway itself was a piece of ingenuity as it had to conquer the Serra do Mar Mountain Range.
